Cacongo: A clandestine depot that allegedly served to provide smuggled fuel to neighboring countries was deactivated last weekend by the National Police (PN) in the municipality of Cacongo, Province of Cabinda. The aforementioned stash of fuel was dismantled during a micro-operation to combat smuggling in the region.
According to Angola Press News Agency, a note revealed on Monday stated that 5,025 liters of fuel were found inside this clandestine warehouse, comprising 2,075 liters of gasoline and 3,450 liters of diesel. The operation also led to the seizure of 4 vehicles, suspected of illegally transporting fuel toward the border with Congo-Brazzaville and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The vehicles involved in the operation have been sent to the Public Prosecutor's Office for the appropriate legal procedures. This action underscores the ongoing efforts by the National Police to curb fuel smuggling activities in the region, which have significant economic and security implications.
The Province of Cabinda, in the north of Angola, shares a vast border with both Congos.
