Cabo ledo: One person died on Tuesday afternoon as a result of the rollover of a heavy vehicle on the National Highway (EN)100, in the municipality of Cabo Ledo, province of Icolo and Bengo. The accident occurred at around 5pm in the town of Sete Irmos, near the Cartepillar company, when a white Shacman trailer, with the license plate LDA-68-91-AE, crashed and then overturned, leading to the immediate death of the driver.
According to Angola Press News Agency, National Police personnel and the Civil Protection and Fire Service were compelled to use alternative technical means to extract the driver's body, which was trapped in the wreckage of the vehicle. The containerized vehicle, driven solely by the deceased, was traveling south-north, likely from Benguela towards Luanda.
This tragic incident brings attention back to the safety of this stretch of highway. It is significant to note that just days prior, on Sunday (15), a bus carrying 42 passengers overturned on the same stretch, resulting in 11 fatalities and injuring 33 others.
