Noumbiel Population Unites for Reforestation Efforts on National Tree Day

Noumbiel: The population of Noumbiel has heeded the call from local authorities to participate actively in reforesting the province. The High Commissioner of Noumbiel, Drissa HEMA, initiated the reforestation activities on Saturday as part of the National Tree Day at the provincial directorate of the environment and water and forests in Noumbiel.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Drissa HEMA called for widespread mobilization to ensure the unprecedented success of the event. The trees planted included both fruit-bearing and medicinal varieties, emphasizing the dual benefits of environmental restoration and potential agricultural yield.

The High Commissioner urged all organized groups and the general population to plant and maintain the trees, underscoring the importance of collective responsibility in nurturing the environment. Athanase Bamouni, the provincial director responsible for the environment, assured that his technical team would remain available to support anyone needing assistance with maintaining the newly planted trees.

Launched by the government in 2018, the National Tree Day symbolizes a civic movement aimed at reversing ecosystem degradation and sustainably restoring Burkina Faso's forest cover.
