Luanda: At least 200 palm trees were planted on Sunday in Cassengo, Lunda-Sul Province, with the aim to reinforce the city's vegetation cover, contributing to the improvement of environmental quality and promoting greener and healthier urban spaces for residents.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the initiative was spearheaded by the Provincial Office of Environment, Waste Management and Community Services, and brought together public officials, religious figures, and various personalities. This collective effort underscores the community's commitment to enhancing their urban environment.
Cidalia Pires, director of the Provincial Office of Environment, emphasized that the activity aligns with the institution's policies focused on environmental preservation and combating climate change effects. She highlighted the importance of citizen participation in protecting public spaces and urged residents to care for the plants and maintain protective measures to prevent vandalism, ensuring the initiative's success.
