Luanda: The Speaker of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, on Wednesday urged respect for legitimately elected democratic institutions, emphasizing their role in enhancing the credibility and prestige of the legislative body. Her remarks were made during a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee in preparation for the upcoming October 15 opening session of the Parliamentary Year.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Cerqueira expressed her expectations for the new legislative phase to be characterized by responsibility, dialogue, and national commitment for the benefit of the country and its citizens. She highlighted the importance of reaffirming dedication to democratic principles and serving the Angolan populace.
The opening ceremony of the parliamentary year is set to commence at 10 a.m. on October 15 at the National Assembly headquarters. It will feature a state of the nation address by President Joo Louren§o, marking a significant event in the legislative calendar.
