Tunis: A plenary session of the National Council of Regions and Districts got underway on Tuesday to elect board and committee members. Speaker of the Council Imed Derbali reminded of Articles 23 and 24 of the internal rules of procedure which lay down procedures to elect the ten Assessors members of the board as well as Article 44 on the election of committee members. Articles 23 and 24 provide for the election of 10 assessors of the speaker by the members of the National Council of Regions and Districts at the rate of two MPs/district. Each district needs to nominate two representatives to form the board of the National Council of Regions and Districts. Derbali said there is need for each district to put forward two candidates chosen unanimously, considering that collective work is the council's watchword. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
