Cabinda: Police officers deployed in the border areas of Cabinda province with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) received vaccinations against monkeypox on Wednesday. The initiative was launched at the Yema border post and was observed by the provincial delegate of the Interior in Cabinda, Commissioner Francisco Notcia Baptista.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Commissioner Notcia Baptista announced that 900 doses of vaccines have been provided by local health authorities to prevent and control monkeypox among military personnel. He emphasized the importance of adherence to preventive measures by forces stationed in border areas with the DRC to mitigate the spread of the disease in the region.
The vaccination campaign comes in response to Angola reporting three positive cases of monkeypox, with two cases identified in Cabinda province and one in Uige.
