Luena: The Rapid Intervention Police (PIR) is increasingly prepared to respond to new public security challenges, the delegate of the Ministry of the Interior in Moxico, Dias do Nascimento, assured on Thursday, in Luena.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Dias do Nascimento spoke during the celebrations of the corporation's 34th anniversary, where he stated that the unit has been strengthening its capacity to prevent and combat criminal acts through the implementation of strategies tailored to the current demands of society.
He emphasized that PIR personnel must maintain high levels of operational readiness to act quickly, firmly, and with discipline in situations that threaten public order and the safety of citizens. The commander underscored the importance of prevention as a crucial tool to effectively and proportionally neutralize any attempts to disrupt public order.
During the ceremony, the officer reiterated that PIR's mission requires professionalism, respect for legality, and adherence to the ethical principles governing defense and security forces. In turn, the commander of the PIR territorial unit in Moxico, Catarino Correia Comba, remarked that the anniversary is an opportunity to honor the corporation's journey and pay tribute to personnel who have fallen in the line of duty.
The celebrations for the 34th anniversary of the Rapid Intervention Police featured tactical demonstrations of intervention and dispersion of public demonstrations, showcasing the operational preparedness of the corporation in the province.
