Police Seize Over 210 Diamond Stones in Lunda-Norte During Operation Connection

Luanda: The National Police have successfully seized 218 diamonds of various carats in the province of Lunda-Norte. The operation, named 'Operation Connection,' targeted illegal possession and trafficking of diamonds, as reported by ANGOP.

According to Angola Press News Agency, police spokesperson Domingos Muanafumo revealed that alongside the diamonds, authorities confiscated 571,000 kwanzas and 295 kilograms of cannabis. The operation also led to the detention of 782 foreign nationals from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, who were attempting to enter Angola illegally via several border posts including Luremo, Camaxilo, L³vua, Chitato, Dundo, Cambulo, and Canzar.

Muanafumo noted that among the detained individuals, 82 were children. These individuals intended to settle in diamond-mining areas and eventually reach the capital, Luanda. Following the completion of legal procedures, the detained citizens were repatriated.
