Popemobile Arrives in Angola’s Capital for Papal Visit

Luanda: The Popemobile, the official vehicle designated for Pope Leo XIV's pastoral visit to Angola, has arrived in the capital, Luanda, ahead of his visit scheduled from the 18th to the 21st of this month. The vehicle, part of a fleet of three cars, was transported aboard an IL-76 aircraft that landed at the Luanda Military Air Base on Monday night, five days prior to the Pope's arrival.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the entourage accompanying the Popemobile was greeted on the tarmac by several high-ranking officials, including Francisco Pereira Furtado, the Minister of State and Head of the Military Office of the President of the Republic, and Maria do Ros¡rio Bragan§a, Minister for the Social area, among other dignitaries. Pope Leo XIV's itinerary in Angola includes meetings with President Joo Louren§o and other civil and religious authorities.

The program for the visit also highlights engagements with the youth, a rosary recitation at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Muxima, and a Mass celebration at the Kilamba Centrality. In addition to his activities in Luanda, the Pope is scheduled to visit Saurimo city in the Lunda-Sul province, along with other commitments.

The Popemobile, known for its armored design and wide visibility, serves as the Pope's official vehicle during public appearances. The current fleet emphasizes sustainability, featuring models such as an electric Mercedes-Benz.
