Pope’s Visit to Project Angola’s Image Abroad

Ndalatando: The visit of Pope Leo XIV to Angola, from April 18 to 21, will project the country's image on the international stage, the Angolan jurist Nicolau Candindilo, said Tuesday, in Ndalatando, Cuanza-Norte province. The jurist told ANGOP that Angola's image will be projected not only by the grandeur of the Vatican State, but also by the stature of the Pope himself, a highly respected figure internationally. According to Angola Press News Agency, Nicolau Candindilo stated that Angola, as a sovereign state, will continue to reaffirm and strengthen its position in the world, in addition to strengthening bilateral, multilateral, and friendly relations. For Nicolau Candindilo, the Pope's visit could boost foreign investment, since the international community will be watching Angola, which will demonstrate to the world that from a security standpoint it is strong. The image of stability and security could boost the tourism sector, while also showcasing local culture and gastronomy to the world, according to the source. He said that Pope's trips to states haven't been very easy, and when he embraces the challenge of getting to know Angola, it's actually a good thing for the country. This will be the third visit of a Pope to Angola after John Paul II and Benedict XVI.
