President Joo Louren§o Returns to Luanda After Historic Visit to India

Luanda: Angolan President Joo Louren§o arrived in the Angolan capital on Sunday night after a significant two-day visit to India, marking 38 years since the last visit by his predecessor. Upon his return, President Louren§o, accompanied by First Lady Ana Dias Louren§o, was greeted by Vice-President Esperan§a da Costa and other high-ranking officials.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the visit to New Delhi was characterized by high-level meetings with Indian authorities and the signing of key agreements. These developments highlighted a mutual desire to enhance bilateral relations. On Saturday, President Louren§o was welcomed at the Presidential Palace by President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During his visit, President Louren§o paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi by visiting his memorial, walking barefoot in a tribute to Gandhi's simple lifestyle. He laid a wreath and signed the book of honor. A pivotal moment of the visit was his tour of the 'Panchavati', the workplace of Prime Minister Modi.

The official discussions resulted in the signing of four cooperation agreements in Culture, Agriculture, Traditional Medicine, and the Framework Agreement for the International Solar Alliance (ASI). The trip also included a bilateral Business Forum, organized by the Indian Chamber of Industry and AIPEX, where President Louren§o delivered the opening speech.

Additionally, President Louren§o met with six Indian businessmen with existing ventures in Angola, further emphasizing the strengthening of economic ties between the two nations.
