Luanda: Angolan president Joo Louren§o sent a congratulatory message to So Tom© president Carlos Vila Nova. In the message, Louren§o said that the country's 50 years of independence represent an important opportunity to celebrate national unity and strength.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the Angolan president states that the celebration of the 'Golden Jubilee' reflects the resilient trajectory and sacrifices made in pursuit of the achievements of the last five decades. It adds that during this period, the constant renewal of the commitment to development and a better future for all has been evident, as it has always been the main priority of the brotherly people.
'On behalf of the Angolan Executive and on my own behalf, I have the honor of congratulating the people, the Government of So Tom© and Prncipe, and Your Excellency on the celebration of the 50th anniversary of your country's independence,' writes the Angolan Head of State. In the message, the president expressed his firm conviction that the relations of friendship and cooperation between Angola and So Tom© and Prncipe, based on strong historical and cultural ties, will remain dynamic and continues to deepen.
The president stresses that Angola will always seek to increase exchanges between the two countries in different sectors of common interest. So Tom© and Prncipe marks 50 years of independence on July 12 with three heads of state and heads of government or representatives of executives from six other countries attending the celebrations. The main ceremony will take place in the So Tom© capital, in the square where independence was declared on July 12, 1975, the date on which the country signed a General Agreement on Cooperation and Friendship with Portugal, its former colonizer.
