Luanda: Angolan president Joo Lourenço welcomed American basketball player LeBron James and actor Will Smith in Luanda to discuss tourism, cinema, and basketball. The meeting coincided with the 5th Stage of the UIM E1 World Championship, an international competition of fully electric racing boats taking place in Luanda Bay. According to Angola Press News Agency, President Lourenço presented James and Smith with prototypes of the National Basketball Team jersey, highlighting Angola's achievements in the sport, including 12 African titles. The meeting underscored Angola's commitment to enhancing its international profile through sports and cultural exchanges. Will Smith, in his second visit to Angola, discussed opportunities for developing the Angolan film industry and promoting tourism. He expressed interest in returning to Angola for professional projects, including a potential "Bad Boys" film saga production. Smith's involvement in the UIM E1 World Championship through his Westbrook Racing, Visit Angola te am promotes the tourism brand "Visit Angola - The Rhythm of Life." LeBron James, owner of Team AlUla, is in Luanda to oversee his team's performance. Team AlUla is currently in third place in the championship, with 75 points, while Smith's team is in second place with 110 points, trailing Team Brady, the leader with 119 points.
