President Joo Lourenço Meets with Preparatory Committee for Pope’s Visit

Luanda: President Joo Lourenço met on Friday with the commission preparing for Pope Francis's visit from April 18 to 21 for the second time in two weeks. The meeting served to assess the progress of the entire organizational structure and provide detailed information on the performance levels of the various teams in the field. According to Angola Press News Agency, the commission reviewed the preparations for the visit in all areas, including protocol, logistics, and other factors that contribute to the success of such a significant event. Recently, the diplomatic representative of the Holy See in Angola, Archbishop Kryspin Dubiel, appealed to the Catholic community and all Angolans to prepare "with commitment, faith, and a sense of responsibility" for this significant event. This will be the third visit by a pope to Angola, following the historic trips by Pope John Paul II in 1992-a period marked by the pursuit of peace-and by Pope Benedict XVI in 2009, whose presence reinforced national reconciliation and commitment to social justice after the end of the armed conflict.
