Icolo e bengo: President Joo Lourenço of the Republic is set to visit the province of Icolo e Bengo on Monday to assess ongoing road works. The Head of State will evaluate the progress of the rehabilitation project on National Road 110, specifically focusing on the Catete/Cabala/Muxima section. Additionally, he will examine the rehabilitation efforts on National Road 230, particularly the Catete/Maria Teresa section. According to Angola Press News Agency, the visit is part of the President's commitment to infrastructure development in newly established regions. The province of Icolo e Bengo was formed under Angola's new Political-Administrative Division, approved by the National Assembly on August 14, 2024. This new division increased the country's regions to 21, with 326 municipalities and 378 communes. The creation of Icolo e Bengo, along with two other new provinces, resulted from dividing existing regions. Specifically, Moxico was divided into Moxico-Leste, Cuando Cubango into Cubango, and Luanda into I colo e Bengo. This restructuring aims to enhance administrative efficiency and local governance.
