Region 5 Mission Prepares Regional Gala in Luanda

Luanda: The Secretariat of the African Union Sports Council Region 5 began an official working mission to the city of Luanda on Thursday, with the objective of preparing for the Region 5 Annual Sports Awards Gala. The event, to be held on May 23, will have Angola as the host country for the first time in its history. The gala distinguishes the best athletes, coaches, and sports institutions in Southern Africa, positioning itself as a significant platform for the promotion of sport on the continent. According to Angola Press News Agency, during the mission, the Secretariat will be received in audience by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falco. The meeting will serve as an opportunity for institutional alignment regarding the organization of the gala and the positioning of Angola as an excellent venue for major regional events. The delegation from Maputo (Mozambique) has a two-day agenda set for April 24 and 25, which includes high-level strategic meetings. The agenda also involves a technical meeting w ith the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), focusing on validating the main pillars of the event. The discussions will emphasize the production and execution of the gala, the communication strategy, international positioning, sponsorships, and media coverage and broadcasting.
