Ondjiva: The leader of the Council of Christian Churches of Angola (CICA) in the southern Cunene Province, Joo Gimbi, on Wednesday in Ondjiva urged Angolans to strengthen friendship within the family, with lasting bonds capable of ensuring healthy development.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Rev. Gimbi emphasized the importance of friendship as a key component in family relationships during his speech on July 30, recognized as International Friendship Day. He described friendship as a relationship of affection, care, esteem, and dedication between two or more people.
He highlighted that fostering friendship within the family leads to an environment of trust, respect, and complicity, which are essential for open dialogue and resolving conflicts peacefully. He views the family as a support network that provides an environment where young people can learn to value friendship, share experiences, and manage differences.
The religious leader pointed out that both individual and collective friendships thrive through open communication, shared leisure activities, and mutual respect, creating a sense of belonging and appreciation for everyone involved.
Joo Gimbi encouraged young people to cultivate friendships that enhance mental and emotional well-being, offering support and security to families. International Friendship Day is celebrated annually on July 30th to recognize the significance of friendship in promoting peace, security, development, and social harmony among people.
