Russia and Angola Bolster Cooperation Through Program Expansion

Luanda: Russia intends to expand its cooperation with Angola in economic, cultural, investment, and high-technology fields, announced Alexander Bryantsev, Russia's charg© d'affaires, during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries on December 12.

According to Angola Press News Agency, after the inauguration of the 'Gallery of Ambassadors,' Bryantsev stated that the two states are preparing a new work agenda for the Joint Commission for Technical-Economic and Commercial Cooperation. This agenda aims to accelerate the existing partnership and identify new projects.

Bryantsev highlighted the "excellent level of relations" within the United Nations, where Angola and Russia have presented several joint initiatives, particularly in multilateral affairs. The diplomat also mentioned joint action on various issues within the United Nations system, including presenting draft resolutions in the General Assembly.

Regarding priority sectors, the charg© d'affaires indicated that Russia intends to develop a comprehensive partnership ranging from trade to community relations, rather than focusing solely on one area. The diplomat noted an increase in the number of scholarships granted to Angolan students, which he believes strengthens the relationship between the two countries.

He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to "doing everything to accomplish the existing potential" of the partnership between Angola and Russia. Since the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation on October 8, 1976, Angola and Russia have maintained close relations in strategic sectors such as defense, energy, education, and trade.

In recent years, economic cooperation has strengthened, particularly in mining, oil, and technology, with Russia playing a key role in training Angolan personnel. The outlook indicates a deepening of the partnership, with a focus on diversifying the Angolan economy and increasing Russian investment in the country.
