Lunda-norte: The National Director of Youth and Adult Education of the Ministry of Education (MINJUD), Evaristo Pedro, announced the institution's commitment to bolstering school sports, emphasizing its crucial role in unearthing talents and enhancing the psychomotor development of students. This was revealed during the opening ceremony of the 14th edition of the School Games - East Zone. According to Angola Press News Agency, Evaristo Pedro highlighted that sports serve as a medium through which children develop better psychomotor abilities, reinforcing the ministry's dedication to supporting such events. He underscored the importance of school games as significant educational and sports occasions, providing a platform for the holistic development of youth, promoting healthy living habits, and nurturing discipline, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility. Pedro urged sports leaders to attend each game across various sports to identify emerging talents who could potentially represent clubs and national team s. He also called on referees and timekeepers to uphold transparency and integrity throughout the matches. Furthermore, he encouraged students to engage in the games with enthusiasm, dedication, and respect for all participants. The 14th edition of the School Games is being held across four regions of the country: East (Lunda-Norte), North (Bengo), Center (Bié), and South (Cunene). Approximately 750 students from five provinces in the eastern region, namely Lunda-Norte (Afritri), Lunda-Sul, Moxico, Moxico Leste, and Malanje, are taking part in this 12-day event. It operates under the motto "School sport - forging talent and respecting diversity" and features seven sports disciplines, including Football, Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, Gymnastics, Athletics, and Chess. The School Games are designed to bring together students of various ages, fostering sportsmanship, health, and camaraderie.
