Luanda: The Secretary of State for Social Communication, Nuno Caldas, urged ITEL graduates in Luanda on Saturday to adopt an altruistic spirit in developing landmark technology projects for the benefit of Angola and the African continent. Nuno Caldas was speaking during the 5th graduation ceremony for 136 students from ITEL (Telecommunications Institute), who completed courses in Informatics, Multimedia Systems, Electronics, and Telecommunications.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the official emphasized that ITEL graduates represent the workforce of the future, emerging from an institution that plays a strategic role in training professionals for Angola's telecommunications sector. He described ITEL as a benchmark institution for human capital development in the sector, noting that the school has been the primary source of talent for a market considered vital to technological transformation and overall development.
Nuno Caldas stated that completing the training represents more than just obtaining a diploma; it symbolizes "years of discipline, persistence, dedication, and overcoming challenges." In his view, these young people demonstrate that Angola's youth have the capacity to contribute to the country's development process.
The Secretary of State also highlighted the role of parents and guardians in trusting the institution with their children's education and praised the work of the teachers, acknowledging the dedication, resilience, and strong commitment they have shown over the years in preparing qualified professionals for the job market. He emphasized that public policies regarding education and human capital development have yielded positive results, adding that no country achieves development without a workforce that is competent, disciplined, and committed to national progress.
In this context, he encouraged the graduates not to halt their academic journey, urging them to continue their studies and prepare to face global challenges. 'Don't stop here. Keep going. Angola needs you,' he stated.
Nuno Caldas also highlighted the progress Angola has made in the fields of telecommunications and space technology, citing the operationalization of the Angosat-2 satellite and the development of ANGEO-1, an Earth observation satellite. He expressed the hope that many of the graduates would join these strategic projects, contributing to the strengthening of the national technology sector and the development of the African continent.
Nuno Caldas acknowledged the institution's leadership-both current and former-for their efforts in maintaining the quality of education, as well as the support provided to the institution by FADCOM. He reiterated the commitment of the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication to continue supporting ITEL.
