Luanda: Sonag¡s meets 70% of Angola's potential butane gas consumption, corresponding to a volume of 563,402 metric tonnes (MT), the company's Head of Marketing, Ronaldo Pitra Gr³z, said in Benguela on Thursday. In an interview with ANGOP, on the sidelines of the Sonangol Group's participation in the 15th edition of the Benguela International Fair (FIB), the official explained that the company has been strengthening its distribution capacity to meet the needs of the national market.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the participation in the fair aims to showcase the experience accumulated over Sonangol's 50 years of existence, marked this year, as well as to present services related to the distribution of fuels, lubricants, and gas, in addition to new investments in renewable energy. The Head of Marketing also highlighted Sonangol's investments in renewable energy, including photovoltaic power generation projects in different regions of the country.
Among the initiatives, he mentioned the Caraculo project in Namibe Province, and Quilemba Solar in Hula, which contribute to the integration of clean energy into the national grid. The company has also adopted solar energy solutions in its own operations, citing as an example the installation of solar panels at the Sonag¡s filling plant in the municipality of Cubal, Benguela Province. The energy generated by the solar panels is also used for public lighting along the municipality of Cubal's main road.
Ronaldo Pitra Gr³z emphasized investments and partnerships across different segments of the hydrocarbon value chain, with particular emphasis on the refining sector. He also underlined the importance of the Lobito Corridor to the company's operations, particularly in transporting products to the eastern region of the country. The company extensively uses the Benguela Railway to transport products to the east, maintaining strong links with the local market.
Regarding prospects for the coming years, Ronaldo Pitra Gr³z guaranteed the continuation of Sonangol's activities in production, distribution, and processing, in line with the objectives set for the five-year period. At FIB, the Sonangol Group is showcasing products and services from its business units, with emphasis on the distribution of fuels and lubricants, gas, and renewable energy.
