Cape town: The Angolan State oil company Sonangol is making its debut at Mining Indaba, the largest mining conference in Africa. This platform provides Sonangol with the opportunity to showcase its mining projects, particularly those centered around critical minerals. According to Angola Press News Agency, the company's CEO, Mario Graça, stated that the event is also being used to present Sonangol's portfolio of lubricant products tailored for the extractive industry. This move is part of Sonangol's strategy to diversify its portfolio and reinforce its commitment to the energy transition process. Graça elaborated on Sonangol's involvement in a critical minerals project, which is currently in the prospecting and development phase. The project focuses on the production of quartz, a crucial raw material for solar panel manufacturing. He emphasized that this initiative aligns with Sonangol's energy transition goals, as the company is also engaged in significant electricity production projects, particularly in p hotovoltaic energy, where solar panels are integral. Sonangol's participation at Mining Indaba also extends to its distribution and marketing division, with a focus on lubricant products essential for daily mining operations. Mario Graça noted that Sonangol owns the only lubricant factory in Angola, enabling the company to present a comprehensive product portfolio capable of fulfilling the demands of the mining sector and other key areas of the national economy. The CEO further mentioned that the conference serves as a platform to attract partners and investors for both the lubricant and mining projects. By identifying potential clients, Sonangol aims to secure partnerships that can enhance value and contribute to project development.
