Speaker Bouderbala in Algiers to boost parliamentary cooperation

Speaker of the Assembly of the People’s Representatives Brahim Bouderbala, who arrived in Algiers on Tuesday at the head of a parliamentary delegation, said the visit would discuss ways and means of boosting bilateral relations. This, he added, would enhance parliamentary cooperation between the two countries. The visit, from October 24 to 27, is the first of its kind for the new parliamentary institution. It is framed in the perspective of fostering the “distinguished historical relations that bind the two brotherly nations”, as a parliamentary press release put it. These relations are rooted in “good neighbourly relations, fraternal ties and the firm determination to establish strategic and cooperative relations based on common interests and the pursuit of greater integration”, the same source added. For his part, Speaker of the Algerian People’s National Assembly, Ibrahim Boughali, expressed his satisfaction at the “strength of Tunisian-Algerian historical relations”, which have seen remarkable progress in various fields and sectors, facilitated by the growing affinity between the peoples of the two nations. The Algerian official also expressed his hope that this visit would mark a “new starting point” for fruitful and robust cooperation between the parliamentary institutions of the two countries, acting as a catalyst for the development of bilateral relations in various sectors. Both parties underlined the importance of direct meetings and reciprocal visits between parliamentarians to strengthen the ties between the two brotherly nations and enhance the prospects for bilateral cooperation.
