TICAD9 Kicks Off in Yokohama with Focus on Africa-Japan Partnership

Yokohama: The 9th Tokyo International Conference on Africa's Development (TICAD9) commenced on Wednesday in Yokohama, marked by a speech from Japan's Prime Minister, Shigeru Ishiba. The event brings together key stakeholders from African nations and international partners.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Prime Minister Ishiba addressed the African Union acting chair, Joo Louren§o, and various African delegations. The Japanese leader emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships with the African continent, focusing on technological innovation, industrialization, energy transition, and human capital development.

The conference, which runs until the end of the week, gathers African leaders, international partners, and businesspeople. The agenda includes discussions on joint strategies for trade, investment, and sustainable development.
