Transport Facilitation Agency Defends Intermodal Logistics System Creation

Lobito: The Executive Secretary of the Lobito Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency (AFTTCL), Amadeu Leito Nunes, defended on Tuesday the need to create a fully functional intermodal logistics system connecting production zones to trading points. Speaking at the Angola-European Union (EU) Business Forum, Nunes highlighted that the construction of this system would significantly boost both economic and social sectors while transforming the corridor's potential.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Nunes emphasized that the hubs are designed as part of an integrated ecosystem that connects production zones, enhancing reliability along the corridor. This results in better coordination between operators and processes, and provides greater visibility. The Lobito Corridor serves as a vital link between the southern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and northwestern Zambia, facilitating access to regional and global markets via the Port of Lobito in Angola.

Angola's Lobito Corridor Master Plan is methodically structured in three phases, ensuring a systematic, participatory process that gradually advances from preliminary diagnosis and planning to detailed strategy formulation and final implementation frameworks. Each stage builds on its predecessor, incorporating critical validation points to align stakeholders and secure government approval.

The Master Plan outlines a comprehensive structure and logical sequence for development activities, detailing specifications for tasks and deliverables associated with each phase. This structured approach is designed to ensure the successful operationalization of the corridor.

The 3rd Angola-European Union (EU) Business Forum, which is focused on attracting European investment to accelerate the development of the Lobito Corridor in sectors such as agribusiness, transport, logistics, and energy, continues until Wednesday. Under the motto "From Dialogue to Concrete Investment," the forum aims to strengthen economic cooperation and operationalize the Lobito Corridor. It brings together government leaders, global investors, and companies from Angola, neighboring countries, and the European Union.

The third Business Forum of the Lobito Angola-EU Corridor 2026 serves as a strategic platform to accelerate development across agriculture, agro-industry, transport, and logistics sectors along one of Africa's most dynamic trade routes.
