Luanda: A total of 8.8 million tons of agricultural products were harvested in the current agricultural season (2024-2025) in the province of Uige by farmers in this northern region of Angola.
According to Angola Press News Agency, in the previous agricultural season (2023-2024), the 626,000 farming families in the province's 23 municipalities harvested 7.7 million tons of products. The increase in production, totaling 1.1 million tons, has been attributed to several initiatives aimed at boosting agricultural output.
Eduardo Gomes, the director of the Provincial Office of Agriculture and Forestry, stated that the rise in production was facilitated by the distribution of 37 tractors to agricultural cooperatives, the rehabilitation of access roads, and the return of some families to the fields. These measures, particularly the acquisition of tractors through FADA financing, have notably enhanced the production of key crops such as cassava and bananas in the province.
