Vandalism Fight Tops Agenda for New Minister of the Interior.

Luanda: Combating vandalism of public property and improving the public security system throughout the country are the priorities of the new Minister of the Interior, Manuel Homem, who was sworn into office Monday. In statements to the press, after being sworn in by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, the minister stated that other priorities of the mission include combating illegal immigration, fuel smuggling, and the illegal appropriation of wealth. According to Angola Press News Agency, Manuel Homem emphasized the importance of conducting a thorough diagnosis of the sector and investing in the training and development of human resources. He expressed the need for more and better-trained staff to adequately respond to the requirements of the Police and other bodies under the Ministry of the Interior. The minister also highlighted the necessity of assessing concrete measures across all areas to define effective actions aimed at improving the current situation. Manuel Homem, who previously served as the governor of Luanda, takes over from Eugénio Laborinho, bringing his experience and focus to this new role.
