Wamatangi tours Tigoni Level Four Hospital

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi today visited Tigoni Level Four Hospital in Limuru Sub-County to evaluate the quality of service delivery.

Wamatangi visited various departments, including outpatient, maternity and laboratory, to review how health professionals managed caseloads, identify bottlenecks in patients’ treatment and also check on the hospital’s stock of essential medicines and supplies.

‘This inspection, which will extend to all health facilities in the county, is part of my commitment to ensuring that the healthcare system remains responsive to the needs of our people and that patients are not turned away due to stock outs,’ the Governor stated.

He added that gaps identified would further determine his administration’s next steps to enhance the county facilities’ human resource and infrastructure capacities.

During the visit, Wamatangi highlighted that he is now focused on evaluating the efficiency of clinical workflows, the availability of essential pharmaceuticals, and the overall patient c
are experience.

He was accompanied by the Chair of the County Public Service Board (Allan Mwaura Ng`ang`a), the CECM for Health Services (Dr. Elias Maina), the County Attorney (Ms. Waithira Irene Waiyaki) and the Chief Officers for Health and Public Service.

Last year, after conducting a survey, the governor instructed the installation of security cameras in all Level Five, Level Four, and Level Three hospitals, including those in Thika, Kiambu, Gatundu, Kihara, Ruiru, Lari, Igegania, Githunguri, Tigoni, Wangige, Karatu, Karuri, Lusigett, Kigumo, Githurai, Lang’ata, Gachororo, Nyathuna, Ngoliba, and Kiandutu with a view to improving productivity.

The County budget allocation this year is Sh23.5 billion with the Health Department receiving the largest share of Sh7.7 billion.

The funding has supported the construction of additional hospitals, the purchase of drugs and medical equipment, and the implementation of the ‘Wamatangi Care’ Universal Health Coverage programme.
