Water access: over 200 reports filed in May 2024 (observatory)

Tunis: The Tunisian Water Observatory (French: OTE) recorded over 200 reports of water-related issues in May 2024.

This covers the quality of water supplied by the Water Distribution Utility (French: SONEDE), cuts without notice, leaks in the national network and protests to claim the right to water.

Five reports on water quality were filed in May, the observatory. The website, www.watchwater.tn, logged 158 cut reports, a further 18 on protests over the right to access water and 20 more on water leaks.

Gafsa took the lead with 28 reports, followed by Sfax (25). The governorates of Manouba, Médenine, Siliana, Bizerte, Sidi Bouzid and Kairouan were also heavily affected by water-related issues.
