Zaire Provincial Hospital Prepared for Potential Mpox Cases

Luanda: The director of Zaire Provincial Hospital announced that health professionals in the municipality of Mbanza-Kongo are ready to handle potential cases of mpox, currently affecting the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and some Angolan provinces. According to Angola Press News Agency, the hospital's management has been collaborating with local Public Health services to provide ongoing training for nurses and other technicians. This training focuses on the diagnosis and management of potential mpox cases within the region. "In the event that any cases arise, our professionals are prepared and up to date on the disease itself and the relevant operational procedures," the director emphasized. Joo Bamba, the hospital's director, also mentioned that health worker training includes preparation for other high-risk diseases, such as Ebola, which continues to spread and claim lives in neighboring DRC. He took the opportunity to remind the population to adhere to preventive measures issued by authorities for both mpox and Ebola. He also urged those experiencing symptoms to seek medical care at the nearest health facility.
