COVID-19: OVER TWO MILLION PEOPLE VACCINATED IN ANGOLA

Caxito – The Secretary of State for Hospital Areas, Leonardo Inocêncio, said Saturday in Bengo that 2,119,729 Angolans had been vaccinated against Covid-19 in Angola.

The number of doses administered accounted for 5.7 percent of the target public (health professionals, defence and security forces, teachers, social workers and patients with comorbidities) in the vaccination campaign.

He said that the national vaccination plan provided for the vaccination of over 15 million people in the country.

Leonardo Inocêncio said this at the launch of a national campaign to sensitise the public so that they adhere to the Covid-19 vaccination posts, promoted by JMPLA in Panguila market (Bengo).

In Bengo province, he said, more than 20,000 doses of vaccine are available, appealing for the adhesion to the campaign as the vaccine is safe and effective.

COVID-19: ANGOLA REPORTS 214 NEW INFECTIONS, 10 DEATHS

Luanda – Angola reported this Saturday 214 new cases, 10 deaths and the recoveries of 22 patients in the last 24 hours.

According to the daily bulletin, there are 121 new cases in Luanda, 29 in Huíla, 21 in Cuando Cubango, 15 in Huambo, 9 in Namibe, 7 in Bié, 3 in Lunda Sul, 3 in Zaire, 2 in Moxico, 1 in Bengo, 1 in Benguela, 1 in Cabinda and 1 in Cuanza Sul.

With ages ranging from 11 days to 103 years, the group consists of 109 males and 105 females.

Of the deaths, 4 were reported in Cuando Cubango, 4 in Huíla, 1 in Bié and 1 in Luanda.

Among those recovered, 13 lives in Huíla, 5 in Huambo, 3 in Cuando Cubango and 1 in Moxico.

In the last 24 hours, laboratories have processed 2008 blood samples.

In the treatment centers there are 199 people hospitalized, while 172 citizens are in institutional quarantine and 1,164 contacts of positive cases are under medical surveillance.

Angola has a total of 48,475 positive cases, with 1,258 deaths, 43,817 recoveries and 3,400 active. Of the active, 12 are critical, 29 serious, 112 moderate, 46 mild and 3201 asymptomatic.

ROLLER HOCKEY: 1º DE AGOSTO WIN LUANDA TOURNAMENT

Luanda – The team of 1º de Agosto became Luanda provincial roller hockey champions by beating Geninhos, 7-4, in the best of three games played today (Saturday), at the Dream Space pavilion in Viana.

At half time, the coach Rui Miguel’s team was losing by two balls, but had more competitive capacity to reverse the scoreboard.

With this victory, the “military” club do the double, after also having conquered the opening tournament of the capital of the country.

Third place was taken by Petro de Luanda, followed by Académica, Sagrado Coração de Jesus and Marinha de Guerra.

At the end, the champions coach, Rui Miguel, attributed the achievement to the collective effort, which fulfilled one of the club’s objectives.

On the opponents side, coach Inácio Santos “Mama”, recognised the opponent’s superiority who, according to him, knew how to take advantage of the opportunities created.

FIFA GIVES GREEN LIGHT TO TEN THOUSAND FOOTBALL FANS IN ANGOLA-LIBYA GAME

Luanda – The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) authorized the presence of ten thousand soccer fans in 11 de Novembro stadium, in Luanda, for the game on Tuesday (8pm ) between Angola and Libya.

The vice president of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), José Carlos, stressed that by ruling out the lack of public inside the stadium, just like what happened in the 0-1 defeat against Egypt, in Cairo, due to the number of positive cases of Covid-19 in that Arab country.

The Football official did not specify the price of tickets for the game of the second round of group F, qualififier for the World Cup of Qatar´2022, which will be available Monday afternoon.

The official who was speaking to Radio 5 , at the end of the first training session of the National Football Team (Palancas Negras/Sable Antelopes), at Luanda’s 11 de Novembro Stadium, after returning this Saturday from Egypt.

The national team returns to work on Sunday, from 4 pm, at 11 de Novembro Stadium where the two teams will fae off.

Just to recall, last July the Decree on the State of Public Calamity authorized the presence of football supporters in the order of 25% of the capacity of the stadium where the event takes place. So 11 de Novembro stadium has a capacity for 50 thousand football fans.

This is the third match between Angola and Libya, after the former won by 3-1 on January 28, 2001, at Cidadela stadium, and then they draw (1-1) on June 28 of the same year, in the 11 June Stadium, in Tripoli, at the time for the 2002 World Cup qualifiers, in Japan and South Korea.

In the first round of the race to Qatar2022, played last Wednesday, despite the defeat of Angola against Egypt, by 0-1, Libya beat Gabon, by 2-1.

FOOTBALL: LIBYA NATIONAL TEAM ALREADY IN LUANDA

Luanda – The Libyan national football team arrived today (Saturday) in Luanda, ahead of Tuesday’s 8 p.m. match against Angola, for the second round of group F of the qualifying round for the Qatar’2022 World Cup.

With a 65-strong delegation, the Libyans visited this morning the 11 de Novembro stadium, venue for the match.

The reconnaissance training session will only take place on Sunday.

All in all, it will be the third match between the two, the first time was on 28 January 2001, at the Cidadela stadium, where the Palancas Negras won 3-1.

The second, on 28 June of the same year, at the 11 June Stadium in Tripoli, ended in a one-goal draw. Both matches were qualifying matches for the 2002 World Cup, in Japan and South Korea.

In the opening match of Qatar’2022, last Wednesday, Angola lost to Egypt (0-1), whilst the Libyans beat the Gabonese (2-1).

As a result, Libya lead the league table with 3 points, followed by Egypt with the same score. Without points come Angola and Gabon, in third and fourth position respectively.
