King of Spain Felipe VI already in Luanda

Luanda – The King of Spain, Felipe VI arrived in Luanda on Monday for his first official visit to Angola, which is to last three days.

On their arrival in the Angolan capital, the king and the queen, who gave no statement to the press, were received by the Angolan minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and by the Spanish ambassador to Angola, Manuel Larrera Lobo.

According to a programme which ANGOP had access to, on Tuesday King Felipe VI will pay tribute to the first President of Angola, Dr. António Agostinho Neto, who died in 1979, visiting his memorial, then go to the Presidential Palace, where he will be received by the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço.

The programme also includes King Felipe VI´s speech at the plenary session of the National Assembly, as well as his participation in the Angola/Spain business forum.

The cooperation relations between Angola and the Kingdom of Spain are based on the General Cooperation Agreement signed on 20 May 1987, and the Complementary Agreement to the General Agreement, initialled in November 1987.

Spain currently has over 60 companies operating in Angola in different sectors, such as energy, banking, construction and agriculture.

Official data show that the cumulative value of Spanish investments in Angola reached 518 million euros as of 2018.

According to the source, in 2020 Spain exported 87 million euros and imported various products worth 548 million euros.

President reappoints public television’s CEO

Luanda – Angolan president João Lourenço reappointed Monday Francisco José Mendes as CEO of the country’s public television (TPA).

According to a note issued by the President’s Press Office, in a previous decree the Head of State ended the mandate of the individuals that are part of the Board of Directors of the TPA, namely

– Francisco José Mendes, Chairman of the Board of Directors;

– Carlos Alberto Tomé da Silva Guimarães – Executive Director for Technical Area;

– Neto de Almeida Júnior Gaspar – Executive Director for Content Area;

– Ana Edite Pinto Ferreira Ribeiro – Executive Director for Marketing and Exchanges;

– Rui Carlos Cardoso Ramos – Executive Administrator for Administration and Finance

– Ana Maria de Lemos Rodrigues de Gouveia – Non-executive Director;

– Mariana Ribeiro de Carvalho Costa – Non Executive Director;

In another decree, the President of the Republic appointed the members of the Board of Directors of the TPA, namely

– Francisco José Mendes – Chairman of the Board of Directors

-Carlos Alberto Tomé da Silva Guimarães – Executive Director for Technical Area;

– Neto de Almeida Júnior Gaspar – Executive Director for Content Area;

– Rui Carlos Cardoso Ramos – Executive Administrator for Administrative and Financial Area
