Buenos aires: The agricultural and industrial sectors dominated the second meeting of the Joint Commission for Economic, Technical, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation between Angola and Argentina, held on Friday in Buenos Aires as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Secretary of State for Agriculture and Livestock, Castro Camarada, who co-chaired the meeting alongside Argentina's Secretary for International Economic Relations, Fernando Brun, highlighted that Angola presented the development of agriculture and the manufacturing industry as key priorities of the Angolan government.
In a statement, the Angolan official stressed that the meeting reflected the political will of the Heads of State of both nations to consolidate friendship and strengthen economic, commercial, and political-diplomatic cooperation. The discussions also served to assess the commitments undertaken during the first Bilateral Commission, held in 2009, and to identify new concrete projects for the signing of memoranda in the short term.
'We reviewed the cooperation agenda between Angola and Argentina and exchanged views on a range of issues, with particular emphasis on the agricultural sector, while also addressing areas such as education, sport, the administration of justice, tourism, internal security, fisheries, and information technologies,' the Angolan official said.
The Angolan delegation included officials and representatives from several ministries and state institutions. Diplomatic relations between Angola and Argentina were established on 27 August 1985. The two countries maintain strategic multi-sector cooperation in agribusiness and fisheries, aimed at developing agricultural and livestock production and promoting the sustainable exploitation of marine resources.
In the field of science and technology, cooperation focuses on fostering innovation, digital transformation, and academic exchange in higher education. In the areas of security and justice, cooperation is based on internal security and mutual legal assistance. In the economic sphere, relations also extend to partnerships in trade, industry, transport, mineral resources, oil and gas, tourism, and culture.
