Luanda: The CEO of Angola airlines- TAAG, Clovis Rosa, highlighted on Tuesday the importance of the newly inaugurated Icolo and Bengo-Guangzhou (China) route as an alternative for business travelers, logistics operators, students, professionals, and tourists wishing to travel to one of the most dynamic regions in the global economy.
According to Angola Press News Agency, at the launch ceremony of the Icolo and Bengo/Guangzhou commercial route, the executive emphasized that, beyond bringing markets closer together, facilitating trade, and enhancing the mobility of people and goods, the real potential of this route lies in its ability to strengthen Angola's position as a hub between Africa and Asia. Clovis Rosa stated, "We want passengers from multiple African markets to use the TAAG network and Dr Ant³nio Agostinho Neto International Airport to access the Asian continent more quickly, efficiently and competitively."
Guangzhou is recognized as one of the world's largest economic, industrial, and logistics centers, serving as a primary gateway to the Asian market. Initially, the route will operate once a week, focusing on air cargo to open new opportunities for goods transportation, support supply chains, and strengthen bilateral trade relations.
The TAGG official mentioned that the expansion of the national carrier's international network is part of a comprehensive internal transformation process undertaken in recent years. This transformation is based on fleet modernization, strengthening technical and operational capabilities, and improving internal processes with a management focus on efficiency and sustainability.
Clovis Rosa further explained that the new route to China will enhance revenue-generating potential, improve asset utilization, and diversify the international network. The manager noted that the Icolo and Bengo - Guangzhou route is not an end in itself, but rather 'a sure step' in creating a new TAAG, ready to support Angola's development ambitions and connect the country to major global economic hubs.
