Angola and Kenya address bilateral cooperation

Luanda – The state of the bilateral cooperation between Angola and Kenya was under analysis, this Thursday (21), during an audience that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, gave to the head of the diplomatic mission of this East African country, Josphat K. Maikara.

According to a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex) to which ANGOP had access, during the meeting emphasis was laid on strengthening the cooperation and bilateral relations between the two countries.

The note adds that the occasion also served for the two individuals to talk about several issues of the bilateral and multilateral agenda.

Regarding the bilateral issue, the two leaders talked about the exchange of high-level visits, as well as the scheduling and programming of meetings in the regions that they are part.

In terms of multilateralism, the parties focused their discussions on international events to be held in 2022, with particular emphasis on the Oceans Conference, to be held from 27 June to 1 July in Portugal.

Angola and Kenya have had relations for several years.

In 2012, both states signed three legal instruments, namely the General Agreement on Scientific Technical and Cultural Economic Cooperation, the Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Kenya, as well as the Agreement on the establishment of the Bilateral Commission.

The meeting was attended by the Director for Africa, Middle East and Regional Organisations of Mirex, Miguel Bembe, and the advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Márcio Burity.
