Luanda: Angola and the Sultanate of Oman have expressed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in various areas of mutual interest, aiming to consolidate a relationship characterized by mutual respect, consistent political dialogue, and a convergence of views on strategic matters. According to Angola Press News Agency, this intention was articulated during a Virtual Inter-sectoral Meeting held on Wednesday, co-chaired by Jorge Cardoso, the Director of Africa, Middle East and Regional Organizations of Angola's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ali Said Al Kathiri, the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman accredited to South Africa, who holds a non-resident status in Angola. The ongoing cooperation between Angola and Oman has already seen significant progress, especially in the mining, transport, trade, and industry sectors, as indicated by a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both nations aim to expand their partnership by exploring new areas such as infrastructure, tourism, health, education, and technology, while also encouraging private sector involvement as a catalyst for economic growth. The enhancement of bilateral cooperation is a reflection of the shared ambition to elevate relations to a more comprehensive and dynamic level, emphasizing mutual benefits and the promotion of regional and international peace, stability, and prosperity. The relationship between Angola and Oman is built on creating a solid, multifaceted partnership with a strong focus on economic and investment dimensions, leveraging their complementarities and development aspirations. The confidence in this relationship was further demonstrated by the visit of Angolan President Joo Lourenço to the Sultanate of Oman in December 2024. During this visit, four agreements were signed, adding to the three agreements established in Luanda in May 2024 when the partnership was first formalized. President Lourenço's visit followed an invitation from Haitian Sultan Bim Tarik Al Said, underscoring the robust foundatio n upon which these bilateral relations continue to advance.
