Seoul: Angola and the Republic of Korea reaffirmed their commitment to deepening friendly relations and cooperation during a working meeting in Seoul between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, T©te Ant³nio, and his South Korean counterpart, Cho Hyun.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the meeting is part of the effort to strengthen bilateral relations and follows the understandings reached during the State visit of Angolan President Joo Louren§o to the Republic of Korea scheduled for April 2024. The two ministers reviewed the current state of relations, focusing on issues of bilateral, regional, and multilateral interest.
The discussions identified new partnership opportunities in sectors considered strategic for Angola's economic and social development. In the economic domain, the officials assessed prospects for expanding South Korean investment in Angola, following the new cooperation framework established after the presidential visit. T©te Ant³nio reiterated Angola's interest in attracting public and private investment from South Korea, emphasizing ongoing economic reforms and a favorable business environment.
The Angolan minister highlighted the potential of the national market, particularly in agro-industry, manufacturing, commerce, telecoms, and energy sectors. The talks also included strengthening cooperation and mutual support in international organizations' applications. Multilateral issues were analyzed, with a focus on the Africa-Korea Summit, viewed as a crucial platform for enhancing political, economic, technological, and sustainable development cooperation between Africa and Korea.
Diplomatic relations between Angola and South Korea were established on January 6, 1992, and have seen positive developments through political dialogue, economic cooperation, and converging interests in international forums. T©te Ant³nio has been in Seoul since Sunday to participate in the Korea/Africa Ministers of Foreign Affairs Office.
