Luanda: Angolan Vice-President Esperanca da Costa met on Tuesday with United Nations Development Program (UNDP) resident representative Denise Antonio to discuss strengthening support for national development priorities.
According to Angola Press News Agency, during the meeting, Costa called for continued UNDP backing to integrate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into national policies, alongside expanded cooperation in institutional training, biodiversity protection, and climate change mitigation.
The Vice-President reaffirmed the agency's commitment to supporting Angola's 2023-2027 National Development Plan, highlighting the importance of joint efforts between the government, the UNDP, and international partners to drive sustainable and inclusive growth.
The partnership operates under a 2024-2028 cooperation framework focused on poverty reduction, economic diversification, youth employment, and financial inclusion. Key initiatives include the Nature for Health project, sustainable tourism developments such as the Roots Reconnected initiative in Massangano, and digital inclusion programs with the National Bank of Angola.
