Angola at UN economic, social forum

New York – Angola participates as of Thursday (14) in the forum of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) aimed at assessing the Covid-19 recovery global policies on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) ahead of 2030 Agenda.

UN member countries are seeking solutions on balancing the relief of short-term crises, with stress to planning and long-term thinking, in meeting running from 5th to 18 this month.

ECOSOC’s high-level political forum is a space for discussion at ministerial level, on how best to develop forward-looking policy approaches.

The forum is meant to rebuild and put the world back on track, aimed at the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, while advancing with a more inclusive and networked multilateralism.

The debates provide opportunities for interventions by ministers and other representatives of Member States, organisations of the United Nations system, intergovernmental organisations and other international and regional organisations, as well as civil society.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Economy and Planning, Angola is participating with a delegation led by the Secretary of State for Planning, Milton Reis.

Monday (18th) programme is reserved for presentations of the Secretary-General’s reports, on the scenarios and long-term impact of current trends in the SDGs.

The High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development was established in 2012, as a central United Nations platform for monitoring and reviewing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the global level.
