Angola-China cooperation promotes economic development

Talatona – China’s Foreign minister Qin Gang said Saturday in Luanda that cooperation with Angola has promoted socio-economic development for both countries.

The minister stressed the business opportunities and the level of political and commercial trust, as result of cooperation with the African country.

The Chinese top diplomat, who has been in the country to attend Angola/Chine 40 years celebration of diplomatic relations, on 12 January, expressed gratitude for the investment opportunity extended to his compatriots and which benefits Angola’s development.

He also praised the joint effort in the growing dynamic of economic and trade cooperation and personal exchanges.

Based on the partnership dynamic, the diplomat expressed his country’s availability to remain Angola’s largest trading partner, a position it has held for consecutive years.

Qin Gan spoke of the areas where the cooperation programmes tend to expand.

He mentioned the fields of agriculture, manufacturing, the digital economy and health, aimed to support Angolan government’s programme in diversifying the economy and increase sustainable development capacity.

Under the 40-year cooperation, Angola and China Wednesday signed a USD249 million agreement to fund the country’s broadband project.

Operating in the public works and urbanism sectors, the Chinese company built various infrastructure.

They include over 100,000 homes, 2,000 kilometres of roads, 2,800 kilometres of railroad, 100 schools, 50 hospitals and other infrastructures.

The partnership, which is being commemorated, covers work such as Kilamba power station, the Benguela railroad and the Soyo thermal power station, amongst others.

The two countries established diplomatic relations on January 12, 1983, opening a new chapter in the history of the traditional friendship.
