Angola Commits to Enhancing Atlantic Trade Platform

Lusaka:Angola's Minister of Transport, Ricardo Viegas D'Abreu, emphasized the country's dedication to sustaining a reliable and inclusive Atlantic trade platform during his address at the Second Lobito Corridor Coordination Meeting in Lusaka, Zambia. Representing President Joo Louren§o, D'Abreu outlined Angola's strategic goals for the development and facilitation of trade.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the minister highlighted Angola's collaboration with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to establish a one-stop border post at the Luau-Dilolo border. Additionally, efforts are underway to make Angola's Single Window for Foreign Trade interoperable with neighboring countries' systems, complete the Master Plan, and develop a bankable project portfolio.

D'Abreu stressed the importance of turning the transport corridor into an economic development corridor, as directed by President Louren§o. He also announced the opening of the first phase of the Ca¡la Logistics Platform, which includes facilities for agricultural storage and a solar power system for energy autonomy, demonstrating Angola's incremental progress in developing the corridor.

The meeting, organized by the World Bank in partnership with the Government of Zambia, was inaugurated by Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema. It gathered representatives from the DRC and the private sector to advance Africa's emerging trade and investment corridors. The Angolan delegation included various high-ranking officials, such as the Secretary of State for Public Investment and the Executive Secretary of the Lobito Corridor Transit Facilitation Agency.
