Angola Hosts 2nd CPLP Superior Councils of Justice Summit

Luanda: The 2nd Summit of the Forum of Superior Councils of Justice of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) is set to take place in the Angolan capital, Luanda, on October 8 and 9. The CPLP is an international organization dedicated to fostering cooperation among the judicial management bodies of its member states and territories, which are the highest in their respective regions, irrespective of their national designation.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the summit will revolve around the theme "Separation of Powers and the Administrative and Financial Autonomy of the Judiciary." Delegations from Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, So Tom© and Prncipe, and East Timor will participate, alongside national entities, guests, and other attendees. The event will conclude with the ratification of the "Charter of Luanda," which will serve as a guiding document for the forum's activities over the next two years.

The summit will be organized through plenary and committee sessions. The plenary sessions, which include both the opening and closing sessions, are designed to present general information on key principles of judicial management development and to approve the work program, among other objectives.

In November 2023, Angola was elected to lead the Forum of Superior Councils of Justice of the CPLP for the 2024-2025 period during the Forum's inaugural summit in Cape Verde. Discussions at this summit included the digital transformation of judicial systems in the participating countries, including Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, So Tom© and Prncipe, and East Timor.
