Luanda: FILDA, the renowned business exchange event formerly known as the Luanda International Fair, has been rebranded as the Angola International Fair, reflecting the expanded scope of the event and the country's new Political-Administrative Division. This announcement was made by Rui Miguªns, the Minister of Industry and Trade, during a press conference in Luanda.
According to Angola Press News Agency, despite the name change, the acronym FILDA will still be used. The upcoming 40th edition, scheduled for July 22-27, will be held in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the Icolo and Bengo province. Rui Miguªns emphasized that FILDA has been a significant platform over the past four decades, fostering partnerships among business leaders.
Bruno Albernaz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the organizing company Arena Eventos, revealed that 1,182 companies from 17 countries have already confirmed participation. He anticipates that this number could exceed the 1,707 companies that participated last year. The fair will showcase enterprises from sectors such as commerce, industry, agriculture, and services.
For the 2025 edition, the Angola International Fair expects 93 percent participation from Angolan companies. Albernaz highlighted new features, including a hall dedicated to Angolan culture, showcasing art, literature, music, and dance from the country's 21 provinces, as well as a pavilion focused on the automotive sector. Additionally, there will be affordable transport options from densely populated areas, and free entry for children under 12.
Agostinho Ant³nio, the deputy governor for the Political, Economic and Social sector of Icolo and Bengo, expressed excitement about hosting the fair for the first time. He sees it as an opportunity to showcase the region's potential and attract investment. The 40th edition of FILDA will operate under the theme "50 years, consolidating Angola's economic independence and integration in the world."
