Canberra: Angola has been invited to participate in the 24th edition of the Conference on Mines and Energy, Africa Down Under, in Australia, scheduled to take place from September 2nd to 4th this year at the Pan Pacific Conference Centre in Perth, Western Australia. The invitation was extended by Bill Repard, CEO of the Paydirt Group, who personally delivered it to Ant³nio Luvualu de Carvalho, the head of the Angolan diplomatic mission in Canberra.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the invitation was conveyed through a press release from the Angolan embassy in the Commonwealth of Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific States. The CEO of Paydirt Group, along with Jeff Hart, the company's representative in Canberra, emphasized the growing interest of the Australian business sector in investing in the Angolan market, particularly in the mining sector, as evidenced by the presence of several Australian companies in Angola.
For the organizers of Africa Down Under, which is deemed the largest conference on the Mining and Energy Sector in Africa held outside the continent, Angola's participation is crucial. Recent international events have heightened the demand for information about Angola, especially among investors in Western Australia, known as the "Mining Capital of Australia". Ambassador Ant³nio Luvualu de Carvalho expressed gratitude for the invitation and assured that it would be conveyed to Luanda.
Ambassador Carvalho was accompanied by diplomatic counselor Maria de Lourdes Freitas during the meeting. Africa Down Under serves as a significant forum for enhancing trade and government relations between Australia and Africa. The conference aims to increase awareness of Australia's interests in collaboration with Africa in the Mining and Energy sectors.
Since its inception in 2003, Africa Down Under has evolved into the largest mining event focused on Africa outside the continent. It attracts numerous high-level participants annually, showcasing various success stories of Australian companies and organizations operating across Africa. The event is considered essential for the Australian business sector, catering to both existing projects in Africa and those interested in new ventures or business collaborations on the continent.
