Tourism Ministry and BAI Bank Sign Landmark Agreement to Boost Angola’s Tourism Sector

Luanda: Angola's Tourism Ministry and Angolan Investment Bank (BAI) signed a memorandum of understanding in Luanda, focusing on the financing and modernization of the nation's tourism sector. The agreement was inked by Allcia Santos, Director-General of the Institute for the Promotion of Tourism (INFOTUR), and Celmira Santos, Coordinating Director of the BAI Board of Directors' Support Office, in the presence of Tourism Minister M¡rcio Lopes Daniel.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the minister highlighted that this agreement marks a pivotal step towards building a new phase in Angola's tourism industry. The initiative aims to make the sector more structured and market-oriented, with the capacity to convert the country's tourism potential into tangible investments, employment opportunities, income, and economic growth.

The minister emphasized the goal of transforming tourism from being merely a promise into a recognized economic sector that is funded, formalized, and digitalized. This transformation is expected to contribute significantly to the diversification of Angola's national economy.

In support of this initiative, the BAI CEO explained that the signing of the agreement formalizes an institutional commitment to validate a financial mechanism. This mechanism is designed to accelerate the development of the tourism sector in Angola by providing the necessary financial bridge to turn intentions into real investments. The CEO noted that tourism has unique characteristics, including seasonal cycles and longer investment maturation periods, which require specialized financial solutions. `
