Angola may purchase Airbus military aircraft

Luanda – Angola may acquire military aircraft from the Airbus company for surveillance of national airspace.

The acquisition is expected to take place over the next 36 months, the vice president of the European aerospace company, Bernhard Brenner, said Tuesday in Luanda, after an audience granted to him by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

As for the reasons for his meeting with President Lourenço, Brenner told the press that he had gone to the presidential palace to “thank the Angolan Head of State for his support in signing the contract with the Angolan authorities for the acquisition of military aircraft.

The Angolan authorities and Airbus, Bernhard Brenner said, initialled on Monday in Luanda a cooperation agreement for the acquisition of the aircraft.

On Tuesday, the Airbus vice-president said that the company was willing to continue working to develop relations with Angola, also in the commercial aviation segment.

Airbus is a European aerospace company, founded in December 1970.
