Tunis:Angolan rower Conceiço Ngola finished fifth in the under-19 women's 2,000-meter final at the African Rowing Championships, concluding Angola's participation without a medal as the event wrapped up in Tunis. According to Angola Press News Agency, Ngola recorded a time of 9:19.97 in the final, which was an improvement from her qualifying time of 9:35.26. Despite this improvement, she did not reach the podium. The host nation, Tunisia, secured the gold medal with Bouchoucha Mariem finishing in 8:35.31. Egypt's Ahmed Rimas took silver with a time of 8:39.69, and Algeria's Manel Hadadou claimed bronze at 8:46.95. Angola's other competitor, Emerson Costino, did not advance past the qualifying heats, finishing fourth with a time of 8:16.59 on Tuesday. In the final standings, Angola ranked ninth overall. Tunisia led the medal table with 10 gold, six silver, and three bronze medals, surpassing the previous champion South Africa, which did not participate. Egypt placed second with five gold, two silver, and o ne bronze medal, while Algeria came third with three gold, seven silver, and three bronze medals. The championships featured competitors from 11 nations, including Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Kenya, Libya, Senegal, Sudan, Somalia, Ivory Coast, and Angola.
