Angola, Namibia reiterate commitment to strengthened cooperation

Luanda – Top diplomats of Angola and Namibia Tuesday in Luanda expressed availability to continue searching for business opportunities to ensure the economic development of the two countries.

This was during an opening ceremony of the official talks between the Angolan minister of Foreign Affairs Teté António and the Deputy Prime Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of Namibia, Netumbu Nandi-Diatwa.

The diplomats recognised the two countries’ potential for political cooperation and mutually advantageous economy.

In addition to the increase in political dialogue on African and international issues, Téte António said that Angola wants to bring closer together the business sectors and the development of public-private partnerships, in the mutual interest.

He noted that the economic and trade relations between Angola and Namibia offer a vast field to be explored, having defended the continuity of bilateral talks, to identify programmes and actions that can guide the common cooperation agenda.

Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated Angola’s willingness, within its possibilities, to contribute to the resolution to global problems, by peaceful means, with a view to guaranteeing peace and international security, as well as the construction of an increasingly better world.

The deputy prime minister and minister of International Relations and Cooperation of Namibia, Netumbu Nandi-Daitwa, stressed the importance of his country to shares strategic resources with Angola, such as water, essential for economic development.

She believes that enhanced cooperation can help the two States achieve the development goals set out in the African Union’s 2026 agenda.

Netumbu Nandi-Daitwa said that the reopening of the border, closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, requires efforts to make up for lost time and re-launch cooperation.

The diplomat pointed the peace and stability as crucial for development of the African continent.
