Luanda: Angola outlined on Thursday in Luanda its main priorities for participation in the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, scheduled for September in New York. The matter was discussed at an interministerial coordination meeting chaired by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, T©te Ant³nio, which brought together representatives from various ministerial departments and Angola's Permanent Missions to the United Nations.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the meeting aimed to harmonise the national position on the main items on the General Assembly's agenda and ensure coordinated participation in the various high-level forums and events. During the meeting, participants discussed the programme of activities, high-level events and sectoral priorities, with contributions from the Ministries of Finance, Justice, Environment and Health.
They also reviewed the agenda of the Angolan delegation, with particular emphasis on bilateral meetings, the signing of legal instruments and side events scheduled on the margins of the General Assembly. The 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly will formally begin on 8 September 2026 at the organisation's headquarters in New York, United States of America.
The High-Level Week will take place from 18 to 28 September, while the General Debate is scheduled for 22 to 26 and 28 September. Under the theme 'Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations that Delivers Results for All', the session will prioritise peace and security, the Sustainable Development Goals, climate action, human rights, the governance of emerging technologies and United Nations reform.
